Felicette. (French pronunciation ends in ‘set’ not ‘settee’ not that I care one way or the other but at least we now know) was Parisian stray cat and the first feline launched into space 1963. She survived the flight and has been commemorated on stamps around the world and there is a statue of her in the International Space University.
